What are the Dances Of Universal Peace?

"Words are not peace. Thoughts are not peace. Peace is fundamental to all faiths, all religions, all spirituality." Samuel L. Lewis (founder of the Dances of Universal Peace)

The Dances of Universal Peace provide a joyful, multi-cultural way to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and others.

The Dances are offered in a variety of ways, such as ongoing evening sessions, day workshops, longer residential retreats and dance camps. They are used in schools, colleges, prisons, hospices, residential homes for those with special needs, and holistic health centres etc. The Dances can also be part of life celebrations such as weddings and burials, peace gatherings, healing rituals, earth caring and ecumenical worship.

From the beginning of time, sacred movement, song and story have brought people together - at times of seasonal ceremony and celebration, as part of everyday life and life passages, in daily renewal and meditation, the Dances of Universal Peace are part of this timeless tradition.

News from the November 2009 AGM:

We had a great day together in Bristol with a morning of Dances followed by a shared lunch and the AGM in the afternoon.

We voted Kate Fielding on to the Management committee and Juliet Hilary, Chris Granger and Chris Thorpe to the new Development Team.

They will be looking at options for redesigning and have already begun improving our website so do get in touch if you like to be involved in their discussions.

If you are a Network member and would like to be more actively involved without actually taking up a post you can now join our Network Support Yahoo group.

Contact us if you are interested.

A Members Only section has been developed which allows accredited UK teachers of the dance to be able to enter and update their own workshop details.

Dance Leaders can link their to their own private websites from their 'Dance Leader' pages on this site. See the Dance Leaders page for details.
